Children love making this easy recipe for sparkling reindeer food. There is something magical about sprinkling this glittery mixture outside on Christmas Eve, a long-time tradition in my house that rivals putting out cookies for Santa.
Reindeer food easy to make and if you want to make it for others, just place it in a small plastic sandwich bag, tie it up with a curly ribbon and add a tag with the special verse (use the one below or write your own) for a special Christmas Eve treat that Santa’s reindeer will appreciate.
Magic Reindeer Food Recipe
- Raw Oatmeal (uncooked oats – do not use instant packets)
- Glitter (mix up silver, gold, green, red)
- Plastic sandwich bags
- Ribbon
- Paper
Pour about 1/8 cup of oatmeal in the plastic bags. Add some glitter. Close baggie with ribbon. Shake to mix.
If you’d like to add a tag to the bag of reindeer food, this is the traditional poem used for the reindeer food tag:
“On Christmas Eve, sprinkle this wonderful Reindeer Food on your lawn. The shiny glitter will sparkle in the moonlight and the smell of oats will guide Rudolph to your home.”
