A Safety Note:
Please use fireworks safely.
The latest statistics from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates that in 2008 about 7,000 people were treated in hospital emergency rooms for injuries associated with fireworks. More than half the injuries were burns and most of the injuries involved the hands, eyes, and legs. Those ranging in age from15 to 19 years old had the highest injury rate among all age groups.
Something as innocent looking as sparklers can be dangerous if not used properly. The temperature can reach 1800° Fahrenheit and a third degree burn can result from temperatures of only 220° F. It only takes a glance away from a child for them to light their clothing on fire.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July holiday weekend.
