Where to Find Coupons

There are many ways to find grocery coupons, including online coupon sites, Facebook, magazines, product packaging and smartphone apps. While the Sunday newspaper used to be the only place to find coupons to save money, the majority of the resources are now online.

If you hate to searching for coupons, there are several coupon clipping services listed below for those who are taking part in the current trend of “extreme couponing.” (I’m not a fan of this type of over-buying, but if you like to keep a large stock, you’ll need lots of coupons.)

Where to find coupons:

Online: The Internet is a haven for finding coupons. There are many sites to choose from and all you need is a computer and a printer. If you do not have one, your local library has computers you can use with your library card.  Do not sign up for any sites that require you to pay a fee to get coupons. I like Coupons.com and SmartSource.com.

Company Websites: If you use particular products frequently, locate the Internet site for that product. You can usually enter your email address on their site and get coupon offer by email or find them right on the site.

Facebook: Most big companies also have Facebook pages, and give away freebies and product coupons for just clicking “like.” (Here’s the lastest list of Facebook coupons: Top Ten Printable Coupons on Facebook)

Mobile Apps: Check your smartphone for great deals. There are many iPhone and Android mobile apps that lead you right to retailers that offer coupons/ deals that are sent to you by text. Try the Target smartphone app for scannable coupons that are sent via text.

Magazines: Most popular magazines have coupons in them for common household products and grocery items. Women’s magazines and home magazines are likely to have the most coupons in the advertisements. Check through your magazines before you throw them out for valuable savings. (I really like “All You” magazine –available at Walmart. It’s full of coupons!)

Product Packaging: Inside the packaging of a great variety of products there are usually coupons good for your next purchase. Check carefully inside boxes and on wrappers for extra savings. You can also find coupons inside the product itself, such as cereal or dog food. In addition, some manufacturers will put removable coupons on the outside of a package that you must use at the time of purchase.

Sunday Paper: Most cities across the country have a major, local paper with a Sunday edition. Although there are so many other resources, don’t overlook the paper for coupons to not only grocery stores but products such as discount oil changes, restaurants and hair salons.

Once you find coupons, make sure you take advantage of what’s called the “match up.” I preview the Sunday coupon inserts and ads several days before the paper comes out. This way I can match up coupons to sale items and get the best deal using my coupons. I use a variety of sites to check the weekly ads and upcoming coupons before they arrive in my Sunday paper.

One of my favorite resources is WeUseCoupons.com. They post information about what is in each of the upcoming ads and a list of coupons that will be in your Sunday paper.
